1/2 Scale Bogie Team - Week 5, June 26 - June 30

This week, the team completed the code for running the bogie, and fine tuning needs to be done once we start testing on the track. However, the bogie cannot be assembled yet because we are still waiting for necessary parts to be machined by the Machine Shop at SJSU. We went to HSC this week to pick up parts that we will use for the bogie. At HSC, magnets, hall effect sensors, MOSFETs, and diodes were purchased.

We are currently designing the leveling system, braking system, and regen braking for the bogie. The leveling system will consist of a geared down DC motor and pulley system to offset the change in incline. This will be coordinated by using an accelerometer and a gyroscope in unison with a PID or fuzzy logic control system. Currently, we are waiting on these two components to be able to begin prototyping.

The braking system will use recycled bicycle brakes, and a DC motor will be used to control the brakes.

Finally, we will make a test rig for regen braking to demonstrate how it could be implemented in the bogie. We are only demonstrating because there may not be time to fully design a system on the current bogie.
